This was exactly what I was thinking! But I did it anyway. 93 deg. F to 114 deg. F.

With all due respect, isn't that a firmware DOWNGRADE?

    Fake?

Anyone else think it's a fake? I don't see how the front facing camera could possibly follow his head _way_ off to the side the way it does... but I could be wrong (don't have an iPad2 to see how wide angle the lens is)

Not fake. This has been demonstrated on the Wii and the DS. Very simple to do actually.

A great runner's iPod. You could actually clip this thing to the back of your hat on a non-fitted hat or the brim, get some really short headphone cords, and it would be like not wearing anything at all...in terms of an iPod. :D

If Apple really went green they'd make everything out of recycled plastic.

No! Not Phil please! I know he is a great guy and he is very good at what he does...technical stuff. But I don't really feel anything from him emotionally. Apple needs a keynote speaker who inspires us and Phil doesn't do that. What about Jonathan Ives? He has the ability to see the future just like Jobs does and whenever I see him speak in an iPod promo he I really feel like he believes in what he is doing. I'd love to see him take over.

I'd like to see an iPod that can play while on fire.

Heck why stop there? Why not make it water proof, fire proof, hurricane and tornado proof, and even lightning proof :p

Next: If Apple names it's next version of iLife, iLife '08, it would brake the routine, but you see Microsoft is not bothered about that so who cares?

I think any Apple fan would know that Apple is ANYTHING but routine.

I for one wouldn't mind toting a few input devices along with me.... I already have a bag for the laptop that is a carryall with an internal sleave a lot like this one:

    http://a1472.g.akamaitech.net/f/1472/124/4h/img.ebags.com/is/image/im0/15030_1_3?&op_usm=.5,1,0,1&hei=160&wid=160

And a wacom tablet is already bigger than an equivalent keyboard replacement... all the added electronics that would be redundant for this concept.... so I'd be saving space. You could probably fit 3 flat inputs in a bag like that, might get a little heavy but no worse that a reference book.

Nope, your device is no longer supported by apple.

That's not a good argument. You forget that this is not a feature. It's a matter of privacy and how iOS uses your data.

So, to me, Apple must give a fix to 3G users too. They can send iPhone 3G users a 4.2.2 for example.

You guys are clearly missing the point of this... It is not at all the same thing as the silly 3D movies, where you put on special glasses and get to see things jumping out at you...

This is a 2D image that is simulating depth and parallax perspective in real time based on your movements in the world.

What this means is that unlike any of the 3D effects you see in movies, you can actually move your head to the side and look behind things.

This is way more of a "true" 3D effect than what you get in the movies... That's more of a bass-relief... you never get to see anything that isn't already baked into the image.

With this effect, if there's something in your way, you can move to the side and see around it.

    This is really awesome.

    well said, a.phoenicis!

really awesome, the implications of this technology coming to a iOS device is incredible...

don't just think out of the box,
    think.

For the last time.... it's not coming out this year.

    iPad = spring
    iPhone = summer
    iPod = fall

Once a year cycle. Stupid source.

Except that the iPhone 4 will likely not be released this summer. ;)

Rules are meant to be broken, especially if you intend to keep your competitors on the edge.

I can agree that it's always unlikely that Apple will release multiple models from the same product line in one year, however.

I wonder what over profit generating uses Apple intends to use location data, collected with location services off, in the future ?

It's so when your new shinny iPhone 6 shows up with an NFC chip they can just charge you for walking near an Apple store. Kinda like layaway plan, but you won't know about it anyhow... at least until someone figures out the hidden file with a list of charges!

    What an ignorant statement

Those who are serious about piercing do it, not in an attempt for individuality, but as a form of self expression, ritual, culture, beauty and art.

I don't think that was an ignorant statement.

I disagree with you; people do get piercings or tattoos partly to be individual; isn't that what self-expression is? I think another reason people get them is to shock people; especially odd ones.

All he was saying is that so many people have tattoos and piercings now, that is really no longer a symbol of individualism; they have become mass market.

I hear it from a lot of people; to be individual now...you shouldn't have a tattoo or piercing.

To instantly proclaim that it is "better" or "faster" without having used the product seems premature.

Premature maybe. But I have an 8 core with 12 gigs of RAM (a poster child system spec for FCP currently not being able to take advantage of it) and I'm guessing:

    12 gigs of RAM + 8 cores + GPU optimization > 4 gigs of RAM + 1.5 cores.

It might be a premature guess, but it's as safe a prediction as any I've ever made. ^_^

It sounds like you just ripped that directly from a George Carlin routine.

I don't know where I have it from, but the name George Carlin sounds familiar. The part you're quoting has been lying in the back of my mind for quite a while. If it's identical to something that Carlin has said, then it's probably not a coincidence.

Wow, sucks if you ordered when it was 4-5 weeks.

People ordering after you getting units faster

Wrong. Those people will get a revised shipping date, and get it before the later orders. Duh.

    I don't often drink beer...but when I do, it's NOT Budweiser.

    Stay thirsty, my friends.

A classic beer reference with a twist. Very good. :D

I'll get slammed for this - but I don't care. Apple is playing a big part in the dumbing down of (some of) society by taking control/options away from users and keeping a walled garden. And I don't want/intend this to turn into a debate about walled/not; security; etc. My point is - that Apple and several other companies/educational institutions and even parents are increasingly participating in the dumbing down of America/other countries.

Apple doesn't want users to have to worry about x, y and z. That's GREAT. It really is. But at the same time - but taking users away from understanding the technology they are using - they are also contributing to the very thing they are (in Steve's latest speech) trying to avoid.

I'd love a car that is "maintenance free." Until the car actually needed some work done. If I have to rely on a 3rd party to do that maintenance and I can't do it myself - then it means those skills will never be learned or used (naturally.) I don't always see this as a positive.

I'm able to do a lot of electrical work and computer/video/etc repair work on my own because I was able to (when I was young) take things apart, learn how things worked inside and out.

    I'll stop rambling...

Yeah it was hard to follow...but nobody should "slam" you for it. Stay well

Price is now confirmed at $150 for Kinect + Kinect Adventures. Also confirmed is a new 4GB Arcade 360, based on the slim design, retailing in a bundle with Kinect for $299 (or $199 for the 360 by itself), giving a $50 discount on the total cost.

My thoughts? Too expensive to bother with! Kinect costs nearly as much as a console itself, which is far more complex.

[EDIT: 129 in the UK, bundle price at 249]

$150 USD is too much? Looking at the toys in red I would figure $150 would be a drop in the bucket. just saying

I think the anti-phishing stuff is great, but I don't like the way they word it. People who are not very familiar with the internet might get the fishing warning from a "paypal" link and think that it is saying Paypal is a fraudulent site, whereas it is actually saying "this site isn't really paypal."

I agree. It should be made more clear that "eBay" is not fraud, but instead the site being viewed is an imposter. Otherwise people may lose credibility in the warnings/turn them off, thinking that it is warning them about "eBay". Also, I think the integration with Google is great, but I hope Apple opens Safari up to other providers, too. I would love to be able to search Yahoo, Dogpile, Orbitz, or Wikipedia. It seems they are putting all their eggs in the Google basket (I know Google has representation on Apple's board, but still).

    Do people not use cases?

    Best post!

Half the people here most likely have their phones coddled in an impenetrable silicone coffin, lest they scratch it.
