I have a feeling Leopard will blow everyone away with all the cool features. But most of all everyone is forgeting that it will be the first true 64bit OS. It will unlease the potential many only dreamed of in applications.
Um... no. Everything except for the first sentence is just wrong, and the first sentence is possibly doubtful.

Love your signature.
Writing this with my 12'' PB on my belly. All good!
Yeah, love this baby in the winter. Saves me a dime or two on heating :)

No iP5 so just to keep the torches and pitchforks at bay Apple "releases" the same thing just with different lipstick. LOL!
Sadly, there's plenty of folks that will lap this up.

And in other news, Apple decides not to set piles of money on fire.
Seriously, it is going to take until the end of the Summer just for Apple to get the iPad 2 fully released worldwide and not still have long lines and delays. Then Apple will settle down, optimize the production, drive costs down a little bit, and get ready to rake in the profit as iPad 2 continues to sell briskly through Christmas. Releasing another iPad would just mean continued bottlenecks of supply, more research costs and higher production costs. Why do that when it still looks like Apple can sell every iPad 2 it can make?
I think the next iPad gets retina or something close to it. But that will require technical improvements in battery, power consumption and cost decreases for the display. I'm not sure when that will be economically feasible.

It's easier for them to do whole copies of the OS every time because people could go from iPhone OS 2.0 to iOS 4.3.3 if need be without having to patch to every subsequent release. It also cuts down on the risk of corruption.
I'd call it lazy instead of easier. They could easily detect the current version installed and download the approriate patch, or fall back to the whole OS if it's not the most recent update.

looks like an improvement
Look at the bottom bar, usually that's where the pinstripe would be in Tiger. I guess Leopard is saying bye bye to pinstripe window backgrounds.

If you do this, make sure you use very, very, very reliable fans! The fans fail, and this system is toast. Literally!
Nice thing is, this all fits in 4U, so it's cheap colo.
Thats pretty cool, but you'd probably be better off with an off-the-shelf case for this project. Fans, that is an area where you will see a difference in the quality of case design. If you look at mid-high range rackmount equipment you'll see they often have rows of fans two deep for redundancy, if one fan fails there is another one right behind it; and the ducting is designed to provide sufficient and even airflow over all critical components. Like jtara says if a fan goes and you don't catch it, components can heat up and excessive heat is a killer.
If you go the Linux route, you'd be wise to run smartd to monitor hard drive temperatures and email/sms you if the temp hits an upper limit.
You should also choose a chassis with good airflow design (ie: ducting such that the air blows evenly over the drives, and also covers the other components appropriately). Too low of temp is just as bad as too high of temp for drives, a poor chassis design will result in some drives being too warm and some being too cool. Check out Googles study for details on this, it's a must read for anyone interested in DIY RAID.
You can also look into fan speed controllers, to keep airflow from being excessive, some are thermostat regulated. This is the type of thing that is built into a high quality rackmount system, one of the reasons they are so expensive.

Yes, BestBuy has the capability of adding lines, and modifying accounts that have existing foundation accounts attached to them. They just do not have the ability to add new foundation accounts to your account. Does that answer your question?
Yeah. Thank you for the quick response!

The iTunes Music Store currently doesn't offer any full-length movies for purchase/download, with minor exceptions to some full-length content available via ShowTime.
I thought iTunes had HSM and Fallen as movies. Maybe they don't count but, they are, kind of.

Nym: No offence, but I am pretty sure that NOT ONE of the US founders was a Catholic. THere were some deists, most were Anglican, maybe a few Quakers, maybe a few Calvinists and what would later be called Baptists. Several agnostics/atheists. Being Catholic was not in fashion at the time of the US revolution...

Sorry but that's not the case, created an account just recently to provide my input on this issue on another thread. I am 3 iPads down with problems and still hoping the 4th will arrive with no leakage or dead pixels. I'm glad yours is "absolute fine" but if you do a search or just ask around you will find this is a widespread problem
by the same token, its always easier to find the units with issues, if they sell one million units and 5000 of them have an issue thats a % any company would take

IDisk is slow and put together like a school project.
I agree but if it's any consolation the hang up is with apple's way of accessing iDisk (I know, I know, I don't get it either).
If you use an App like transmit the speeds are much much higher.

Sadly, I remember reading an article a while back that said the number one import beer in the U.K. was...Budweiser. Not the Czech version, but the Anheuser-Busch version. There also stats showing how much their sales were going up, while sales of Guinness were down all around the U.K. It was very depressing. All those lovely beers to import from their own back yard, and Budweiser is the number one import? I haven't seen any numbers on the rest of the EU, though.
I... don't understand.

Look up Binaural sound. Sound these days can be mixed in such a way that, when output through a nice set of headphones, the effect is completely 3-dimensional. The sound technicians do all the fun stuff for you.
It's really impressive, honestly. I've played with it a bit. Almost too real.
i will check it out. but the question is, would we really want it in headphones at all? it would make us a little freaked out if it really sounded real, and it would take away our ability to differentiate between sound coming from the headphones and sound coming from around you, which would be a little scary.

Now try going to a movie theater, and watching a 3D movie with your head held at any sort of significant angle off the vertical, say resting on the shoulder of your S.O.. It doesn't work at all then either. (You can get around that by using active [shutter] glasses, but then you're
This is incorrect. The two passive 3D systems in modern cinemas use either colour filters (Dolby 3D - the glasses you must hand back) or circular polarisation (RealD - the disposable glasses you can keep). Either system works the same at any head angle.
