I'm looking to spend some grant money and 4 x 27" iMacs and a couple 2 TB Time Capsules sounds like a great idea!

First of all, I think it's hilarious in and of itself that earlier in this forum you went on about how you'd rather be seen with your Galaxy S in public, because you don't want anyone to think you're a douche. Screw what other people think. If you care what others think you're just as bad as them.
But even funnier, you then come back in a later post and say that your self image is not tied to your phone. Seems completely contradictory to me. On the one hand, your are embarrassed to be seen with your iPhone. On the other, your self image is not affected by your phone. Hmmm.
Another interesting tidbit. On an earlier post you mention "this town" as NYC. Then later in another post you talk about "here" in LA and Orange County. I know you're located in the "Western Hemisphere", but you sure get around.

I question the same, I liked that a lot, hope it's configurable :( and what about the classical popping sidebars? I don't like the way new Preview handles them inside the window and it seems like this is the way of future, how sad :( I'm not very fond of Mail styled buttons, probably the only Mac design element I don't like very much..

Photoshop Elements 4.0 is a capable replacement for Photoshop CS2 for a lot of people, even professionals. It depends on what you're doing with it.
I've used various word processors since writing my own in the early 1980s and MS Word 4.0 was quite nice but Microsoft kept adding so many features that it's become haphazard and troublesome. It is counter-productive for a lot of people, especially when you have to revise previous documents.
Pages 2 is a useful release but it's not final. To discount it or iWork totally is not reasonable.

Took the plunge finally and bought a 16gb iPad and Apple case for my cruise next weekend. Might sell it as soon as I get back since the 2's will be out soon... We'll see.

After waiting two years for TMO to get the iPhone, I just threw up my arms in disgust at the merger news and moved over to VZ. Wish I could get confirmation before my thirty days with VZ are up.
For those of you talking trash about TMO's network: While their overall coverage is not as good as VZ's, their speed network wide is better than either VZ or AT&T. Much better. Much, much better. Trust me. I know.

I would agree, Apple is on a crest...and the only way is down.
This is a ridiculous assessment, based on nothing. Apple now has three growth businesses from which to build, and potentially a fourth. Hardly a company on earth would not envy Apple's potential.

This would be a nice UI for ebooks - just swipe your finger/hand across the display to turn the page.
The None-Touch (presumably so named as it sounds more pleasing than "Non-Touch", and is a play on "One-Touch") name would imply that at least some control can be achieved without touching the screen.

You'll get no argument from me here. Been using the MX-1000 since my PC days and love it to death. My trackpad sees the use isntead of a MM, but same feelings :)
But I can see Steve Jobs announcing the improved bluetooth MM:
It's WWDC and he's in the middle of his stevenote. he 'accidentally hits something' and messes something or other up. He acts angry and yanks the MM away from its cord.
The cord just pops off and he pulls it out of hte USB port.
Then he keeps on using it as if nothing happened.
"oh, and we have the new bluetooth mighty mouse available now!
that's at least 3 MX-1000 users we have that are well-satisfied :-)

I have BT keyboard and mouse with my iMac and I love the tidyness of it. One cable that�s all. I have tried the MM in the shop and I thought it was nice to use, but from what I�ve read here it seems to be problems with the scroll ball. Guess my old mouse will do for now

Even if Amazon has 69 cent songs, I will likely continue buying on iTunes. Over the past year, most music has been purchased on my iPhone while I am out. Can't do that with Amazon.
Blame The fact that Apple won't allow a competing service in it's market. On my Android phone I can use the Amazon mp3 app to purchase music, download it to my phone immediately or stream it from amazon. It goes into my Amaozon locker meaning I can go to any computer and download it there at any point in the future. Instant access from multiple devices, except my one iOS device.

The Thunderbolt Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbolt_(interface)) has a diagram showing the TB controller's access to things. The accompanying description ("Thunderbolt can be implemented on graphics cards, which have access to DisplayPort data and PCI express connectivity, or on the motherboard of new devices, such as the MacBook Pro.[5][17][22]") implies that a TB compatible PCIe graphics card could bring older systems up-to-date. That would be interesting.
Do you trust Wikipedia? :) In fact the line above this one on Wikipedia says: Because the PCIe bus does not carry video data, it is unclear whether a standalone PCIe card could offer a Thunderbolt port. The Intel Thunderbolt Technology Brief does not give a conclusive answer.[3]
Everything I've read that is sourced to Intel says an add-on card won't be possible. It's my guess that the integration for Thunderbolt needs to be deeper than an PCI Express card, especially with its capability to carry video/data. It may be that Intel does not want people confused by data-only Thunderbolt ports. OTOH, I'm not a Thunderbolt engineer, so I may be completely mistaken. :D

can anyone tell me why this market is so important? even at .99 cents a song the margins for the retailer can't be that much.
I'm willing to bet that Amazon isn't doing things the way Apple is doing things. Amazon wasn't born yesterday. They have yet to do something that is an abject failure.

i'm on my second mighty mouse [soon to be third once i have this once replaced] in 6 months. the scroll wheel stops working pretty quickly. i don't find the size of it all too comfortable.. but when it's fully functional it's a decent mouse.
if they don't fix the scroll wheel issues though, i'd say the BT version is worthless. it's unacceptable that apple hasn't fixed this issue on the wired version. they can replace it all they want, it's still going to break a month or two later. plus, it takes 30 minutes or so for them to replace it, which is rather annoying.
all in all, cool that it's BT now, but terrible if they don't fix both versions.

If you copy your actual files to the cloud (a la iDisk or Amazon Cloud Drive), then no additional licensing is required (no matter what the labels say). If Apple wants to keep master files in the cloud, and have you verify you own a copy so you can have streaming access to that file -- that requires new licenses.
Licenses aren't made out of peaches and puppies. They cost money. If you want to argue Apple should eat the costs, out of the goodness of their hearts, well go ahead and argue that in crazyland.
Now, Apple COULD use this as a value-add to a structured MobileMe service. Even if they do, I imagine they'd have a separate music-only fee for those who don't want e-mail/iDisk etc.
This could even pave the way to a subscription model -- if Apple has every song in the cloud anyway, and they've gotten streaming licenses, I imagine it wouldn't be tough to start a Napster/Rhapsody style subscription plan.
