For the love of God, will they please fix the bug that causes any wall, photo, or comment posts to slow to a crawl if you haven't reinstalled the Facebook app in some time.
Any one else notice this?
Example: I restore my iPhone. Facebook runs like a sprint horse fresh out of the gate. Posting status updates, wall comments, photo comments, friend requests, etc.. are all snappy. Then after about a week things start taking longer to post. The spinner lasts much longer on the screen. Then by week 4, trying to post a simple status update cripples the app to the point that you have to hit the Home button on the iPhone. Meanwhile, even though your spinner is processing, that status update has already updated on their servers for others to see.
Excellent description of the problem! I also submitted this as a bug in the app store. I guess time will show if they've fixed it in the latest version.

Jones Peak, Nathrop, Colorado
1/500s, f/8, 238mm, ISO 100
Canon Rebel T2i + EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM + EF 2x Extender II
Classic B&W mountain photography is probably my favorite of all time. I can just stare at Bradford Washburn's photos for days. I think you did really well here and I enjoyed this one for sure. My only complaint is that the right side left me wanting more, like we weren't quite finished with the ridge.

How beautiful would that be for Time Machine, particularly in a laptop?
Sounds absolutely perfect.

For example, with the cell operating at 600 degrees there is not much of a differential change between room temperature and plus/minus 10 degrees.
My Pb.... quite a hot computer runs 140F at the GPU. Id say your pushing no more than 150 at the CPU. No more than 170 on any laptop. 170F
=76 C. 90F = 32 C. 80F = 26C. T = 76-32= 44C. 76-26= 50C. 12% difference. Yes.... quite unnoticeable  . Thats if its a direct relationship... if its a secondary or tertiary relationship.... well then your looking at huge difference being created.
I dont know where you got 600  or negligible.... but...

Over the weekend I was in the Philly Walnut store to see just how much thicker the white was over the black. You can instantly notice the white phone was thicker and my friend said, "wow and it feels heavier too."
Basically what Phil is saying people, it's all an illusion. Don't trust your eyes or any other measurements.

Dear Adobe,
START FOCUSING ON CS APPS! Damn... My mac mini g4 works faster converting my raw to jpeg files than my c2d iMac! I know you need to compete with Apple... but focus on your current products that are in need of updating to Universal code for the professionals that rely on them!
Thanks,
Bimmerkid

Yes, because the Democrats are actually a bunch of Marxists...
Not even remotely true. According to their Annual Report (http://www.plannedparenthood.org/about-us/annual-report-4661.htm) only 3% of their services relate to Abortion.
70% of their services relate to contraception and STD's.
It is deceptive accounting
According to Abby Johnson who worked at PP for eight years and was a director for two years of that
And while Planned Parenthood says abortions make up just 3 percent of its services, I found they used an sleight of hand, unbundling family planning services so each patient shows anywhere from five to 20 "visits" per appointment (12 packs of birth control would show up as 12 individual visits). It does the opposite for abortion visits, bundling them together so each appointment shows as one visit. This skews the numbers. You have an overwhelming number of "visits" for family planning compared to abortion, even though you may have seen the same number of patients.
Remember, Planned Parenthood offers mammograms NOT! (http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/planned-parenthood-challenged-on-purported-mammogram-claim/2011/03/30/AFjCFO3B_story.html)

Maybe I should educate myself. What is the scoop? Where I used to live in Minnesota I shopped at Menards. In Houston mostly it's Lowes or HD.
Nothing really major. If you think Norm Coleman was a good guy, and that EFCA was a bad, bad idea, HD is the place for you to be going. Mostly a matter of personal taste, really.

If you don't have someone to drive you home and look after you for the night, it is recommended to stay in hospital overnight.
iGary i wish that al goes to plans and your certainly in my pray's :)
I don't mind that at all - I'm actually hoping to stay just one night in case...
Funny thing is I could walk to the hospital (and the Apple Store :D) in 10 minutes...
I just don't want to wake up puking all over the place.

how do they release the preview to developers and not let loose the super secret features? are all the super secret features all applications which don't need testing?
or will there be another round of betas?
My bet is that the GUI will be tested in the labs, there will be a few more apps put to the Dev's but not for a while yet. Apple want them to get board of spaces so they can put more atention on to the newer (SUPER SECRET) apps.
to be frank, the GUI will not be put out on any beta. this is the one thing apple dont want those pencil pushing theifs at redmond to see as it will no doubt work its way into there next relese (microsoft 2012?)

I sincerely hope not. I'd rather have anything other than a poor metal track being played continually on the radio over the festive period.
Even a poor cover of a poor Miley Cyrus song?

Why is everyone ragging on Facebook for this?
It's not as if they invented it.
Foursquare, Loopt and Gowalla have had these types of apps for many many months.

A developer friend of mine tried to download the previous dev release for my system (iMac G5), but it wouldn't install right for some reason. It would hang on restart. I had to re-install from the CD and re-update everything. Even tried disabling all my hacks and startup items, but it just did it again. I believe it was the combo version (2117 I think). I'm thinking it didn't get download right or something though, because he was able to get it working on his (Intel and PPC), a friend of our's (dual G5 PowerMac), and my Mother's (Intel mini). Hoping the new one works better, but if not, at least I know how to fix it. When it works though, it's fast. Real fast.

i can't believe all the paranoia on this thread.
first of all, if it is simply an RFID Reader, then it doesn't broadcast crap about you. it senses an RFID Tag in proximity to your reader and reads the tag. software on the device then utilizes that tags info for some purpose.
secondly, if there is a tag in the device (iphone/ipod) then you'd have to be in proximity of a reader for it to be sensed and read. i would imagine that for privacy reasons a tag could be disabled dynamically by the user. or maybe even the device alerts the user that a reader is attempting to read its RFID and asks how the user would like to handle the situation.
lastly, anyone who is even remotely paranoid about such a technology coming to the iPhone/iPod had better already be on a cash basis, own no cell phone, not have internet access in their home or use it anywhere else, have no bank accounts whatsoever, not be a member of any clubs or enrolled in school, or be employed anywhere.
believe me, 99% of people are already engaging in enough activities that if big brother or big business wanted to know something about you, they'd have no problem finding it.

It's a simple way to increase the iPhones attack surface and introduce more vulnerabilities that enable information to be stolen.

Cut defense, raise taxes on the rich, and close corporate tax loopholes. Deficit solved without cutting any social services. In fact, the little "balance the budget" exercise I posted a few weeks ago proved we could add a surplus while still increasing money for social services, green energy and veterans benefits. All with a progressive tax increase on the top 10%.
As Maddow says, its not about the budget.
I thought you described yourself as an anarchist. What's your definition of an anarchist? Someone who supports a lot of state control?
