Hoping for a "One more thing..." media event in the next couple weeks to talk about the rest of the stuff Jobs ran out of time for.

After a short stint in Hollywood with success in the '70's, this out of work actor was hired by Atari for sound effects! :D:D:D

Don't the movie studios operate as commercial businesses? Don't they make a profit (overall - some movies flop I know)?
They couldn't affort to spend $100M/movie if they didn't get the money back!
Therefore, iPod sales are 'extra' income for them.
I know that there may be some drop-off in theatre ticket sales if the same movie is available via iPod sometime in the future, but don't they face this now with DVD sales?
It may be simplistic, but why not hold back offering the on-line sale of the movie until they have exhausted the 'theatre experience' the way they do with DVD sales, and then get ready for the '2nd wave' of additional income.
I agree that you should pay for what you have, but I also think you should get what you pay for without excessive restrictions. Yes, electronic media differs from physical media and some rules should be different, but the underlying principles stay the same.

Except that iPod/iTMS sales would represent, generally speaking, the loss of a DVD sale. They would love, I am sure, to ONLY sell through iTMS and similar services, assuming:
1) They sold the same number of copies,
2) They had the same or great profit margin, and
3) They had better/stricter copy protection.
On that note, I'm still amazed no one has reverse engineered the iTMS video copy protection scheme. I hear DVDJohn has done it, but is using his powers for "good" (well, his good) and selling it to companies who want to offer DRM'd video for playback on iPods without going through Apple.

Can we turn on the feature that auto previews the first few words of the thread by highlighting the title?

I can see them giving it for free with the purchase of their hardware (like find my iPhone is free with the latest iteration of iOS devices) Apple after all is a hardware company.
Giving something that costs billions in servers and man hours for free to everyone doesn't make much sense to me.
I agree. It should be about adding value to your other Apple purchases. (See my comment above.)

Hi,
I am looking to upgrade my current display to an Apple 27" Display.
My question is - with the introduction of Thunderbolt through the Display Ports, do you guys think current model will be updated soon (so that the display support daisy chaining)?
Thanks,
Ryan.

Q: Should I want my device to no longer be able to share information with third parties, and I turn off Location Services, does my iPhone continue to do so? A: No.
Q: Is the anonymous, encrypted information sent back to Apple currently used for any other purpose than to speed up finding my location when I am using GPS services so I don't have to wait several minutes each time? A: No.
Q: Is the location data on my iPhone my actual whereabouts? A: No. It's cell towers and Wi-Fi hotspots nearby, some more than 100 miles away.
If this is Big Brother, he gets an EPIC FAIL from me.

Yeah must be crossed posts!
What is weird though is that I just ran geekbench and got a score of 764 with only 256mb ram compared with 732 when I had 512md ram
could it be that the dodgy dimm was registering its capacity but hindering the machine in the geekbench tests due to it being faulty?

What is a TIMG tag, and how do you do it? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to derail this trainwreck of a thread.
A TIMG tag will reduce the size of the image and make it clickable so you can see a larger version.
Unless you're working on a tiny laptop screen the images do not extend past the normal width of the forum.
Almost half the traffic on the Internet comes from mobile devices. Again, it's common courtesy.

I bought a 200GB Seagate Barracuda 3.5" internal drive yesterday. Now I need an enclosure. Who makes the best, affordable(<$80) Firewire 400/USB enclosure for this drive? Thanks.

Although this is pretty cool, being a Web Designer, I'll never see myself using this, manipulating with a finger is difficult, especially when it comes to creating web interfaces & getting accuracy, because you have to remember we are working with pixels, there is no way u can get the accuracy of a mouse through any tablet..
Apart from that, even for professional photographers or those who do illustration I don't think they could make any real use out of this, at least not at this stage, we are use to using either keyboard (shortcuts) + mouse, or a wacom..
Pixels +Fingers = :(

it crashes regularly, even on macrumors or on the apple site!
just make it work!
No it doesn't. Seriously, I've visited this site zillions of times and Safari has never crashed on it.
As for resizable text areas, it's a good idea in theory. Too many "web designers" think they are designing for print...the user is supposed to have control over how things look. That's one of the whole points of the web; everything should be as relative as possible.

Yes I know about pricing, but when you see prices in US (When count with the carriers price) and see the wide differences like nearly 1000 usd its making upset.
